Beat The Street Launches its new Walking clubs


BHC Move More Walkers dont get dettered by wet weather


West Wigtownshire Building Healthy Communities  Macmillan Move More  Path walk initiative met today at Stranraer Cancer Drop in centre ,and although the weather was poor,  a significant number of the group turned out for the Friday  afternoon path walk ,which was delightful to see.

Although the weather was not great  the group enjoyed a stroll through the woods of the bypass ,and enjoyed a general discussion on life events and life in the community

Once the hourly walk was completed, the group returned to the Stranraer Cancer Drop on centre at the Galloway Hospital ,where a hot cup of coffee/ tea was eagerly accepted and  appreciated




  


 

 The project initiative is free for those effected by Cancer, the group meet every Friday at 1pm  at the Stranraer Cancer Drop in Centre  at the Galloway Hospital  Stranraer  ,and the walks are facilitated by Trained Macmillan Cancer Path walk facilitators

D&G Through the Lens - Raise funds for D&G Blood Bikes

Dumfries and Galloway through the lens are a photography enthusiast , who promote the region through their Social media forum on Face Book , with an aim to promote the beauty of the landscape of D&G and promote the Art of photography and their experience with those in the group


The group have just promoted their first book, with images provided by their artists, from across Dumfries and Galloway, Funds raised from the purchase of the book, were donated to D&G Blood Bikes to support the tremendous work that they do.
The cheque was provided at Easterbrook Hall to mark the first anniversary of the D&G through the Lens forum


The Blood Bike team provided a presentation on the work they do across the region ,their range of volunteers  from Bike riders to Control volunteers who provide the emergency  contact information link between Hospital emergency and identifying Riders  to go where they are needed ,to transfer Blood or  other vital   requirements to save life
D&G Blood Bikes are looking for any volunteers that may wish to assist across the region to becoming control volunteers to assist the team ,and will be provided with training  

World Tai Chi & Qigong day 2017

 West Wigtownshire Building Healthy Communities  (BHC )  Tai Chi for Health ,would welcome everybody to come along on Sat the 29th April to celebrate World Tai Chi and Qigong day  , this event is celebrated around the world at 10am.
This year our event will meet at the episcopal church in Stranraer (and pending weather conditions we may have a practice session outside ) We welcome anyone who practices Tai Chi or Qigong ,and those who may be interested to find out about the benefits of there arts that support health and Wellbeing

Scottish Community Development network ( SCDN )  is a member led organisation, for community workers / community development workers, paid or unpaid, full or part time, from the community, voluntary or public sectors, who support the principles and practice of community development. Rhins Mens Shed ( Stoneykirk ) Taken off !

It is great to see the old community Hall in Stoneykirk  has a new life , The Rhins Men's  Shed group have been hard at work in developing the hall and establishing a base for their group members, the workshop has a full range of tools and resources which they are busy developing Garden furniture 

from waste wood and material donated to the group by the communality

The group always welcome new members and if people need transport their is always members with transport who are happy to pick you up and bring you home at the end of the day , so why not come along and see what you can join in with, or just come for a chat and a coffee and read a paper !



we are presently renovating the disabled toilets and also putting a computer room in to help people how to use the internet , so if you have any skills or would like to learn some come on along to the Rhins Men Shed  where you will get a warm welcome from us all
