Cycle - Recycle Project for Stranraer

A New Community project has been identified  between Building Healthy Communities ( West Wigtownshire )   and the ReUse Centre  Stranraer, and a ranger the focus of the pilot project is to develop young peoples understanding of community waste and carbon footing


The project will  commence in March 2018 and will be a nine month community project , which will see young people involved in building recycled bicycles, that will be on offer for families in the community to come along to the reuse centre  and book out for the day for family cycle runs.




A Saturday Morning Breakfast club will be developed for those participating to promote Healthy Eating .prior to the morning activities


D&G  Community Safety Team during the summer months will provide Cycle proficiency test training as part of the project








The project will also include a  community beach clean where those involved will follow the trail of the waste collected, and be provided a tour, of the Reuse centre, and learn what happens to the waste and where it is recycled for use




Those young people involved will be assisted to develop a celebration event to invite school teachers ,Family and guest to hear presentations from the group, on their achievements and lessons learned whilst on the program , and be presented with their   accreditation achievement  awards
