Glen Luce New Age Curling

Entertainment was high at the Glen Luce Bowling Club this Thursday , As the New Age curling group set about their weekly game together , with the Red team just winning by three shots !

Its great fun and entertainment and keeps everyone physically active says Jenny Barret BHC Volunteer and Facilitator with the Glen Luce Curling group

The curling stones are very light and have rollers which means they can be slide along the floor very easily

We are hoping to commence a small league with Newton Stewart new age curling group and we would like to recruit more numbers to our group

So if you have some time on your hands and are free every Thursday morning between

1030am - 12 am so why not come along ,we have a cup of tea and biscuits a good chat about every day life and have some very competitive curling with good humour

West Wigtownshire, with a population of approximately 18000, was chosen as one of the four areas to be part of the Building Healthy Communities project in Dumfries and Galloway. It was widely recognised as an area experiencing some of the worst levels of health inequalities and deprivation across Dumfries and Galloway. This relates to the young, lone parents, unemployed, rurally isolated and elderly. Its remoteness from services and jobs, coupled with the sparseness of the population means that higher costs are incurred in the delivery of local services which includes healthcare and education.

The West Wigtownshire Area Partnership brings together Statutory, Private and 3rd Sector organisations with local people to identify and tackle community health issues. This may involve the development and delivery of relevant activities. Volunteers play a large part in all aspects of the programme and are supported throughout, in order to bring out the best in the individual CHV themselves and their respective communities.
