Sucsessfull Day Had by all with Tails on Trail Sponsord walk

The damp weather did not put off Owners and dogs attending Torwood Forrest near Glen Luce this weekend in support of Tails on Trail The event is supporting the Scottish SPCA Pound for Paws 2017 programme ,which aims to rescue and re-home Scotland`s abused , abandoned and injured animals
A big thank you to Michelle Graham .Linda Ward and all the BHC volunteers and Path walk leaders who assisted in making the day a success , a really enjoyable walk for all dogs and Owners, and we would like to convey our thanks to Emma Harper (MSP) who came out to support our cause today.

A well deserved coffee and cake followed courtesy of the County Golf Club Glen Luce to end our days event with over £800 been raised supporting the SPCA pound for paws programme

Further interest was indicated to have more family Dog walks developed in the future and we will keep you informed of their progress

West Wigtownshire, with a population of approximately 18000, was chosen as one of the four areas to be part of the Building Healthy Communities project in Dumfries and Galloway. It was widely recognised as an area experiencing some of the worst levels of health inequalities and deprivation across Dumfries and Galloway. This relates to the young, lone parents, unemployed, rurally isolated and elderly. Its remoteness from services and jobs, coupled with the sparseness of the population means that higher costs are incurred in the delivery of local services which includes healthcare and education.

The West Wigtownshire Area Partnership brings together Statutory, Private and 3rd Sector organisations with local people to identify and tackle community health issues. This may involve the development and delivery of relevant activities. Volunteers play a large part in all aspects of the programme and are supported throughout, in order to bring out the best in the individual CHV themselves and their respective communities.
